Just a few blocks away, 9:30 Club is hosting night two of Chance Peña, while DC9 keeps the floor moving with their classic Dance Club and a set from Fairweather. If you need a break from the guitars, Crush Dance Bar is leaning into the archives with a Y2K Party.
Down at The Wharf, the vibe is a bit more aquatic. You can watch athletic pups launch themselves into the Potomac for DockDogs at Camp Wharf at the Firepit, or keep it classy (and high up) with Body By 12 at 12 Stories. If you're feeling the "Wicked" hype, The Kennedy Center in Foggy Bottom is throwing a "Sunset in OZ" party—the dress code is pink and green, obviously. For the R&B lovers, Penn Social in Penn Quarter is hosting J. Howell for a night of smooth vocals.
If you want to dance like it’s 2004, Crush Dance Bar in U Street is the only destination. They’ve got their 2000s Throwback Dirty Pop night happening, which is essentially a scientific experiment to see how much Britney Spears one room can handle. If that’s too mainstream for your tastes, head over to Decades in Dupont Circle for Boy Band Night. It’s the same energy, just with more synchronized finger-pointing and questionable frosted tips.
For the sports fans and the soulful, Navy Yard is your hub. Solace Outpost is the place to be for the Washington Spirit match, while Tom's Watch Bar is juggling MLB and Leagues Cup soccer. If you prefer your Saturday night with a side of jazz and history, head to Capitol Hill for the Eddie Anderson Project at the legendary Mr. Henry's. For something truly different, start your evening early with Rooftop Yoga at ART DC - Arlo Rooftop Bar in Gallery Place Chinatown to center yourself before the tequila takes over.
For the night owls who aren't ready to call it quits, the party usually migrates toward Ivy City where Culture is hosting Vibras, or Downtown where The Hamilton Live has Bobby Thompson and Better Off Dead keeping the stage warm until the early hours. As we look toward the rest of August, expect more of these outdoor-indoor hybrids as we all try to survive the "dog days" of the D.C. summer.
