If you prefer your bass drops in an industrial setting, head to Ivy City where Nü Androids is bringing Wax Motif to Culture.
Go to Decades in Dupont Circle if your primary goal is a classic club night. Between "Pretty Girls Like to Party" and their standard Saturday madness, it’s the move for anyone who actually remembered to put on a real outfit tonight. Or, if you want to lose yourself in a house set without the Dupont dress code, Culture is your North Star.
If you want to keep it low-key but high-altitude, stick to the tequila vibes at 12 Stories. It’s classy enough for a date but energetic enough that you won't fall asleep in your margarita. For the indie kids who just want to witness some DC music history, the Black Cat lineup is a mandatory pilgrimage that will probably leave your ears ringing just enough to drown out the Sunday morning church bells.
As the yoga mats finally get rolled up at ART DC - Arlo Rooftop Bar, the neon lights at Crush Dance Bar in U Street are just starting to hum for the Luminate Party. July nights are short, but the memories of a 2:00 a.m. singalong at DC9 last forever—or at least until you see the Uber surge pricing.
