Bars specializing in microbrews have sprouted up in the DC area in the past 10 years.
Friends and I were very excited to eat at Belga for brunch on Sunday. We made reservations in advance and all arrived together and on time. We were, therefore, very disappointed to find that our reservation slot was double booked. 2 members of the 4 person party that also booked a reservation for the same time arrived before us so we were told that they had priority over the open table (despite the fact that our whole party was waiting in the small doorway and they were seated to look at menus while waiting for the other 2 members of their party). The manager acknowledged that the partial party should not have been seated first. Then, after waiting for roughly 30 minutes, she offered me complimentary french fries--noticing that I am in my 9th month of pregnancy and had been standing on my feet waiting for a table. I appreciated the gesture and was enjoying the fries until I bit into one of the fries and felt a HAIR coming out of my mouth. I looked at the fry I had just bit into only to find a LONG BLONDE HAIR twined around the fry and fried onto it. The manager seemed annoyed when this was first brought to her attention and first sat other guests before even acknowledging our concerns. She then went on to take the fries, including the hair covered one away and never even offered an apology. I was sickened. We immediately left, very disappointed with the service and management of Belga.
